Marjie Nielsen is the Financial and Grants Administrator for CLC. Prior to this role, Marjie was the Supervisory Attorney of the Austin Office, where she had been a Staff Attorney since 2002. While at the Austin Office, Marjie managed a caseload of family law and domestic violence-identified matters. Marjie also founded what is now known as the Blank Slate Records Program, which established CLC’s sealing, expungement, and clemency petition practice. In addition to her work at CLC, Marjie was instrumental in drafting key legislative revisions to the Criminal Identification Act and has authored and co-authored three editions of the IICLE guide on criminal records relief. Marjie is the 2013 recipient of the Public Interest Law Initiative Intern Alumni Award. Marjie is a graduate of the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and has been licensed in Illinois since 2002.
