Laura SB Vallejo (née Bukata), Managing Attorney

Laura has been an attorney with the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic since 1997. Fluent in English and Spanish, she has worked primarily in family law (divorces and parentage cases). She currently serves as the Supervisory Attorney for the Clinic’s Parentage and Child Support Advice Desk, a role she has held since the program began in August 2007. At the Advice Desk, Laura not only provides legal counsel on paternity and child support issues but also drafts related pleadings. On a limited basis, Laura provides clients with substantive legal representation on issues too egregious to ignore. She also continues her work helping finalize adoptions as a DCFS panel attorney.

Laura graduated from Valparaiso University Law School in 1997 and passed both the Illinois and Indiana bar exams that year. She and her husband are the proud parents of three daughters and have two amazing cats. She is also the daughter of Marta C. Bukata, the former Deputy Director of the Clinic, and first began working with GCLC in a non-legal capacity during her mid- to late teens.
