Kenneth Walther, Attorney Fellow

Kenneth is an attorney fellow in GCLC’s Environmental Law Program. Kenneth earned a BS in Systems Biology, with a minor in Environmental Studies, from Case Western Reserve University in 2013. He graduated IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law with a JD and certificate in Environmental and Energy Law in 2021 and was admitted to the Illinois bar later that year.

While a student, Kenneth participated for over two years in the environmental law clinic, supervised by GCLC’s Keith Harley, where he worked on complex environmental issues, such as contaminated site remediation, environmental justice, industrial permitting, and compliance monitoring. He served as an executive board member of multiple organizations, such as the Environmental and Energy Law Society and the Lambdas (Chicago-Kent's LBTQ+ bar association). He was a recipient of the Baum Family Environmental Law Fellow Scholarship, and served as an associate editor on Chicago-Kent’s Journal of Environmental and Energy Law. Kenneth also served as the Lambdas’ representative on the school’s student diversity council, helping to advise on Kent’s student diversity and inclusion programs.

As an attorney fellow, Kenneth is thrilled to further GCLC’s vision of providing equal access to quality legal representation by representing individuals and non-profit organizations on urban environmental issues. He believes that environmental justice for the most impacted communities is a basic human right and an essential first step towards a healthier environment for everyone.

Kenneth loves to read science-fiction and fantasy literature, hike, and play board games. He also has one cat, Miss Fortune, who he loves to spoil.
