Daniel J. Donoghue, Treasurer

Dan joined the GCLC Board in 2015 and currently serves as Treasurer. He retired from a 35-year career in finance and is now engaged in freelance research and writing projects. Dan founded Discovery Equity Partners in 2002, an activist hedge fund focused on investing on behalf of college endowments and charitable foundations. Prior to that, he was Co-Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Piper Jaffray, Executive Vice President at Duff & Phelps, and an auditor with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Dan has provided expert testimony before the U.S. Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission and has served on the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council. A CPA and a CFA, Dan graduated from Boston College and received an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Dan actively supports organizations that address animal rights and the needs of low-income individuals and families. His volunteer work at Greater Chicago Legal Clinic is inspired by the tireless efforts of its staff to bring quality legal assistance to a disadvantaged segment of our community.
